Glass blowing, new name and exhibitions

Hi!
A new name, new work, and new stories!
My official names are Jacoba Wilhelmina den Ouden, named after both of my grandmothers. I never really gave them much importance, I just feel like Mirna. But since I live here in Denmark and have to use these official names quite often, I start to feel a bit more like Jacoba Wilhelmina den Ouden.
That’s why I decided to use my official names when it is connected to art, to give them a place in my life too.

New Work
Last October I did an artist-in-residence. Two weeks alone (okay, a few days with Samuel, my boyfriend), without a car on an island. But with a workspace, peace, and nature to fully focus on my new series of artworks.
It’s a series about polarization, people with opinions, that are completely opposite and no longer want to find a middle ground. I want to show that it’s okay to have a different opinion, as long as we stay connected, connected in the middle.
The works are for sale at the Fat Eye Gallery, which also made the residency possible. It was a great experience!
See the photo’s of the artworks here.

At the moment am I working on new artworks, of course again with glass and stone. I will show these during the art route in Maassluis.
So for all the people in The Netherlands, everyone is very welcome! I would really love to see you there!
You can find me at:

Last weekend I spent three days back at my old workspace in Ebeltoft. In the glassblowing workshop of the glass museum, I started working on a new exhibition for November. But what it will be is still a secret.
Greatings,
Mirna / Jacoba (still getting used to it)
